Collaboration
In collaboration with the International Neuroscience Research Consortium (INRC).
INRC is a global network of neuroscientists, neurosurgeons and computational biologists. Through the collaboration, INRC researchers speak to Medquara students and provide research opportunities.
What students do
Hands-on research
Build your own brain model on a computer, a hands-on introduction to neuroscience research. No coding experience needed.
Doctors & specialists
Live conversations with physicians, researchers and medical students.
Medical school applications
Personal statements, admissions tests, interviews and timelines.
Global perspectives
How medicine and medical education differ around the world.
Research project & certificate
Present your own scientific poster and earn a certificate of completion.
The flagship program
Everything an aspiring medical student should experience before starting the journey.
Most students decide whether to pursue medicine with very little first-hand exposure to what it involves. The Medquara program brings the most important parts of that journey into four structured weeks, so students can make informed, confident decisions about their future.
The program combines
- Medical career exploration
- Medical-school application guidance
- International university pathway education
- Direct interaction with physicians and researchers
- Hands-on research with a brain model
- Scientific communication
- A final research presentation

This is not simply a medical career seminar. Students explore medicine, learn how medical-school applications work, meet physicians and researchers, and complete a guided introductory research project.
Explore Medicine & Discover Your Path
What doctors actually do, and where you might fit.
Outcome: a clearer picture of which pathway may suit you
Enter the Lab
Build a model of the brain on a computer.
Outcome: your own working brain model
Think Like a Scientist
From question to figure to poster.
Outcome: your own scientific poster
Medical School Applications & Next Steps
How to actually approach your application.
Outcome: a personal plan for your next steps
Week 2: Enter the lab
Build a brain model on a computer.
Ever wondered how scientists study the brain? In Week 2 you build your own model of it on screen, explore how it behaves and see what it can show us, guided step by step by researchers.
No coding experience needed. It is an educational research exercise, and it is meant to be fun.
How it works
- 1
Start with a brain recording
Open a free, anonymous brain-activity recording used for teaching.
- 2
Build your model
Use simple tools to turn it into a model you can see and explore.
- 3
See what it shows
Ask questions, spot patterns and share what you find.
Week 4: Applications & next steps
Not only research. A clear understanding of how to apply.
Research is only part of the journey. In the final week, students learn how medical-school applications work across different systems, and how to plan well before application season begins.
- International application systems
- Direct-entry and graduate-entry routes
- Entry requirements & admissions tests
- Application timelines
- Personal statements
- Interview preparation
- Common application mistakes
International pathways
- United Kingdom
- Japan
- Malaysia
- Singapore
- Australia
- Europe
- UAE
- Other pathways
Pathway information is general and educational. Medquara is independent and has no partnerships with, or endorsement from, institutions in these countries.
The final week
Research Showcase
The program ends with a research showcase, where every student presents their own work, just as researchers do at scientific meetings.
- Complete your mini research project
- Create a scientific poster
- Present your findings
- Answer questions
- Receive feedback

When does the first cohort run?
The first cohort runs for four weeks, from 30 November to 28 December 2026. Session days, times and time zone are confirmed and shared before you decide to enrol.
Who is the program for?
High-school students aged 14 and over, and university students who are not in medical school. It suits anyone, particularly international students, who is interested in medicine, biomedical sciences, the brain or related healthcare careers and wants genuine exposure before committing to a path.
I am at university but not in medical school. Is this for me?
Yes. The program is open to university students in any subject, including science, health and non-science degrees. Week 4 covers how application routes work, including routes into medicine for students who are already at university. You do not need a science background.
Is the program safe for students under 18?
We take safeguarding seriously. Participants must be 14 or older. Sessions are hosted by Medquara on Zoom, are group sessions and are recorded. Team members and guest speakers do not contact students privately. Students under 18 register with a parent or guardian’s knowledge. Read the full Safeguarding Policy.
